The beta
Syntropium is in an invited beta. A small group of people are using it every day, on the web and on iPhone, so we can find what’s confusing and fix it before Syntropium opens to everyone.
Who it’s for
People with things to keep track of and the patience to tell us when something doesn’t make sense. You don’t need to be technical. In fact it helps if some testers aren’t: the goal is an app anyone can pick up without help. It’s a good fit if you:
- have a garage, shop, basement, storage unit, farm building or just a lot of closets and boxes;
- have an iPhone, a computer, or both — ideally both, so you can try sync;
- are willing to put real things into it and keep using it for a few weeks.
What testers get
- Premium, free. Sync between your iPhone and your browsers, end-to-end encrypted, at no charge. Long-term testers may keep a permanent complimentary account (see complimentary accounts).
- The iPhone app before it is in the App Store.
- A direct line. What you report goes straight to the person building it.
Nothing in the beta asks you for payment details.
What we ask
- Use it for real. Put in the things you actually want to find. A few containers and a dozen items is a fine start.
- Tell us what’s confusing. The moments where you hesitated, guessed, or went looking for a button are exactly what we need to hear about. “I couldn’t find how to delete a box” is a perfect report.
- Tell us when something breaks — what you were doing, and on which device.
- Keep a backup. It’s a beta. Export a backup from Settings now and then; it takes a few seconds and includes your photos.
How to join
Ask for an invitation by email at hello@syntropium.app. Say whether you use iPhone, a computer or both. Invitations go out by hand in small batches, so it may take a little while to hear back.
An invitation is a link. Open it, create a passkey on your device, and you’ll land with Premium already turned on. Then add your other devices by pairing — the device that’s already syncing shows a QR code, and the new one scans it.
You don’t need an invitation to use the web app on its own: open it and start. Everything stays in that browser until you join.
What may change
- The app itself. Screens, words and buttons will change as we learn. Updates arrive on their own on the web, and through the beta channel on iPhone.
- Prices and limits. Premium’s price, the trial and any limits on Free and Premium are not decided yet. Beta testers will hear before anything is charged, and nothing is charged without you choosing to pay.
- Where your email lives. During the beta the email your invitation went to is held by our own small billing service; when Premium goes on sale it moves to the payment provider. Details on Privacy & trust.
- The policies. The privacy policy and terms are drafts and will be reviewed before public launch.
What won’t change: your catalog stays on your devices, synced data stays encrypted with keys only your devices hold, and you can always export everything.
